Batman:
    Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum incontrovertibly has the most innovative game design out of all titles considered. While it is a linear experience, the microcosm of the asylum takes a page straight out of BioShock (originally released in 2007). With the page in hand, Rocksteady Studios pushes it a level further with the objects of the asylum more excruciatingly detailed than just a large free-roam environment of buildings. Everything is crafted beautifully, and Gotham has never looked more enticing from a sea-view on the side of Arkham Island.
