Another year goes by filled with an overwhelming number of titles that many have sought to play since 2007. It is one game, however, that rises above the rest but every title remains glorious in individual categories and unique ways. The WhatIfGaming Game of The Year award is back for 2009. Publishers and developers do not have it easy, and many put years of hard work into one game in hopes to announce it and let alone release it. Their contributions will not go unnoticed by WhatIfGaming as always. Part of the "WhatIfGaming Prizes," considered the Nobel prizes of gaming, the WhatIfGaming Game of The Year Award is a prize emblem trophy chosen with extreme care and precision . We did not just take a bunch of our guys to choose Game of The Year. As with every year since 1998, we also received input from other industry experts alone just for this occasion: you the readers from countless e-mails and most importantly other game developers, and creators especially invited to submit their polls. In the end, only the WhatIfGaming team chose the winners and the victorious defeated champions. An immense gratitude is bestowed upon our main editors that contributed to the WhatIfGaming 2009: Game of the Year Award.
